Skokie, IL – The Emily Oaks Nature Center welcomes Anatomically Correct’s “Wild in the City”, a visual art exhibit of plantlife and wildlife in an urban setting featuring artwork by Chicago area artists: Vic Berardi, Kathryn Born, Bart Harris, Debra Hatchett, Howard A. Jacobs, Steve Huggins, Jim Lange, William Purvis, and Ron Rutkowski.

The exhibition opens with a FREE RECEPTION on November 11, 2011 (7 – 9 pm) and will be on display in the Nature Center’s gallery through December 29, 2011. To view images or more info: http://www.anatomicallycorrect.org

I Walked the Highland Park Art Walk for Autism

Anatomically Correct announces the I Walked the Highland Park Art Walk for Autism. Participants can register online at http://www.anatomicallycorrect.org/HighlandParkArtWalk2011.htm

Once registered, Walkers will meet at The Art Center, 1957 Sheridan Road on Saturday, June 11, 2011 - 2 pm; pick up a map of Highland Park Art Walk display locations & Walk!

$25 Registration/Donation (Includes Walk T-Shirt) - Proceeds Benefit Autism Speaks

Also on Saturday, June 11, 2011, participating Highland Park Art Walk 2011 artists will be at their display locations from 1 - 4 pm for Meet the Artists Day.

This event will be followed by the Highland Park Art Walk Benefit & Silent Auction at The Art Center, 1957 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL from 4 -6 pm. Awards will be presented to Amy Perlmutter, Carrie Codell and Amy Greenebaum for their many years of volunteer work on Highland Park High School's Focus on the Arts program. Suggested donation is $10.

QuARTet Artists Reception at Apollo Theatre, April 29, 2011

Meet the Artists at the Reception at the Apollo Theatre to celebrate Anatomically Correct's exhibition QuARTet, in conjunction with the smash musical Million Dollar Quartet (now in its 3rd year). The exhibition features works by Jon Langford, Rick Janes, Don Elmi, George Lindmark, and Walter Fydryk, with a special tribute to outsider artist Howard Finster.

The event is free and open to the public.

Plans for 2011

We continue to exhibit local artists at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago, IL. Our Southport Art Walk (July 2010) was a success and our Visiting Artists Program is off to a great start with the inclusion of The British School of Chicago.

The remainder of 2010 will include a continuation of the exhibit at the Apollo Theatre and plans for Art Walks in 2011 (Highland Park, Southport and Evanston). Diminished funding has affected our plans to expand the Art Walk series.

Our exhibition at the Apollo Theatre in conjunction with the smash musical Million Dollar Quartet now features the work of Rick Janes, Don Elmi, George Lindmark and has prints by Howard Finster.

We encourage artists to create new pieces for this exhibit (obviously the pieces must relate to the show in some way and be wall mountable).

We congratulate the cast and crew of the production for remounting the show on Broadway and for the Tony nomination. Congrats to Levi Kreis for Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award in the Broadway production of Million Dollar Quartet!

The Chicago production will continue as long as audiences support it. It's a wonderful show! Don't miss it! Stop by the theatre to view the art in the lobby (you don't need a ticket for the show to see the artwork). The art is for sale. Please support local artists!

Our exhibit, Roots of Rock, featuring the work of artist/musician Rick "Fish" Janes is on display at the Apollo Theater in Chicago through the end of November 2009. Meet the artist at the free reception on Fri. Oct. 16 (5 - 7 pm). Congrats to Million Dollar Quartet ensemble for their Jeff nomination. Word is out that the show is also going to Broadway!!!

The Second Annual Evanston Art Walk, a juried exhibition of art by Illinois artists displayed in shops windows along Central Street in Evanston, IL through the month of October 2009.

The event also features a Benefit, Silent Auction and Outstanding Contributions to the Arts Award presented to Joanna Pinsky, Founder/Director of Art Encounter on October 1, 2009 (7 - 9 pm) at Symphony's Cafe, 1945 Central Street, Evanston, IL. Reservations Required. $20/per person. Phone 312-514-1802.

Also, on the evening of Thurs. October 8, 2009, shops along Central Street will host "An Evening of Retail Therapy" offering discounts and refreshments.

Our Highland Park Art Walk will continue thru the end of June showing artwork by Illinois artists in the windows of shops in Highland Park, Illinois.

Our Essence of Nature exhibition opens this Friday, June 19 (7-9 pm) with a free reception at Emily Oaks Nature Center in Skokie, IL. Sheryl DeVore wrote a wonderful article on the exhibit in the June 11, 2009 Pioneer Press newspaper.

You are invited to our upcoming "Viewpoints of Emily Oaks" 'Plein Air' paint out! See over 50 local artists set up their easels and create some art on the grounds of Emily Oaks Natures Center on Sat. July 12, 2009 (10 am - 2 pm). Fun for all ages.
